A variable font can move between thin and black continuously. Animate that axis across a word and the letters seem to breathe. It is pure typography, with no images or effects, which makes it look editorial and calm.
Use it well
| Habit | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Two to four words | The wave needs a line to travel along |
| Strong contrast | Off-white type on a deep brand colour, or the reverse |
| A slow sweep | Slower feels luxurious; faster feels playful |
| A wide weight range | Light to black makes the crest visible |
| A slight slant, or none | Slant adds energy; upright feels quieter |
Render one with Weight Wave Type
Weight Wave Type is a free, open-source HyperFrames block. A crest of weight rolls along your headline, swelling each letter from light to bold and back. Ask your agent:
Make a weight wave title "CERISE BY VAEL" in off-white on wine red.
It renders a 6-second 1920×1080 MP4 that loops well.
