Customer review videos: turn a real testimonial into a short ad
Stars, the quote revealed word by word, and one result — the review card format. How to pick and trim a review, get permission, and render it with AI.

Social proof is most convincing in the customer's own words. A review highlight video puts one real review on a clean card: the star rating, the quote appearing word by word, the customer's name and role, and one result number. It turns a review that's buried on your site into a six-second ad.
The structure
- Stars fill in (if you have a rating).
- The quote appears word by word, so viewers read along.
- Name and role — "Mia Chen, Growth lead at Kova".
- One result — "9 markets from one script".
Pick the right review
- Specific beats glowing. "We launched in nine markets from one script" beats "Amazing product!"
- Trim to the key sentence — 35 words at most; shorter hits harder. Trimming is fine; changing the meaning isn't.
- A result in numbers makes the strongest closer — use the customer's own figure.
Get it right legally
Testimonials are among the most regulated claims in advertising:
- Use real reviews with permission. Ask the customer before you turn their words into an ad, and keep the approval.
- Never invent quotes, names or results, or write reviews "in the voice of" a customer. The US FTC's rule on fake reviews and testimonials, in force since 2024, allows civil penalties for fake or misattributed reviews.
- Disclose material connections — if the reviewer is paid, an employee, or got the product free, say so.
- Typical results: if the result isn't typical, don't present it as if it were.
Design tips
- Keep the card calm and readable — this format is about trust, not flash.
- Use the customer's photo only with their permission.
- Make a series: one review per video, rotating in your ads.
Make it with Claude Opus 5.5 (or any agent)
The free Review Highlight Skill renders this locally:
Make a review highlight from this customer quote (we have permission to use it), five stars, with the result "9 markets from one script".
Your agent trims the quote with you, reminds you that it must be a real, approved review, and renders MP4s in every ratio. For your own data rather than a customer's words, see stat reveal videos.
FAQ
Can I leave out the stars? Yes — rating and result are optional.
Can I translate a review? You can show a faithful translation for other markets; keep the meaning and the customer's approval.
