Product spec callout videos: show features at a glance (e-commerce guide)
Leader lines draw out from your product to its key specs — the format shoppers can read in three seconds. How to pick specs, write them and render the video with AI.

A spec callout video puts your product in the middle and draws thin lines out to its most important features, one at a time: "24 h cold", "750 ml", "Leak-proof lid". It's the video version of an annotated product photo, and it's one of the most useful formats for e-commerce ads, marketplace listings and product pages.
Why it works
Shoppers compare products on a few numbers and features. A callout video answers those questions in a few seconds, without a voiceover, and it works on mute — which is how most feed videos are watched.
Pick the right specs
- Two to four. Fewer is clearer. Each extra spec gets less attention.
- Lead with the one buyers compare on. For a bottle that's how long it keeps drinks cold; for headphones, battery life.
- Make each one concrete. "24 h cold" beats "Great insulation".
- Add a short detail line where it helps: "24 h cold — double-wall steel".
- Only claim what you can prove. Specs are product claims; marketplaces and ad platforms reject misleading ones.
Structure
- The product pops in and floats gently on a soft halo (under a second).
- The title fades in, if you use one.
- Each spec gets its leader line and label, about 0.8 seconds apart.
- Everything holds for a beat at the end so it can be read.
A four-spec video runs about six seconds.
Design tips
- Use a transparent product PNG so the halo and lines sit naturally around it.
- Square (1:1) is the classic format for feeds and marketplaces; 9:16 for Reels and TikTok; 16:9 for product pages.
- Keep the background close to your packaging or site colour so the video feels on-brand.

The free Product Callouts Skill renders this format on your machine:
Make a 1:1 product callout video for bottle.png with four specs: 24 h cold (double-wall steel), 750 ml, leak-proof lid, 340 g.
Your agent confirms the specs, reminds you to list only what you can back up, and renders MP4s in every format you need. Pair it with a product reveal for launches or a before/after to show results.
FAQ
Can I use more than four specs? Four is the maximum so each stays readable on a phone.
Does it work for products that aren't upright? Yes — the lines come from the product's centre on alternating sides.
